THINGS TO DO IN TAHOE

Whether you’re looking for adventure, relaxation, or just a good bite to eat, South Lake Tahoe has something for everyone. Here are some of our favorite activities, trails, and spots to explore while you’re in town.

Hiking

Vikingsholm Trail – 1.7 miles down into Emerald Bay (and back up again!). A moderate hike with history and gorgeous views. Our personal favorite! Parking fills early.

Lam Watah Nature Trail – 2.8-mile trail near Stateline, NV with wildflowers and wide, easy paths. Dog friendly (on leash).

Eagle Lake Trail – 1.8 miles roundtrip with waterfalls, creeks, and granite peaks. Moderately challenging but family-friendly.

Dogs on leash welcome.

Cascade Falls Trail – 1.3-mile moderate hike with sweeping lake views and a waterfall at the end. Dog friendly.

Van Sickle Bi-State Park – A gem right near town that quickly takes you from the village into the forest with panoramic lake views.

On the Water

Sunset Wine Cruise – Enjoy a wine cruise aboard a vintage Chris-Craft Venetian water taxi with Tahoe Tastings.

Fishing – Book a guided fly-fishing trip with Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters.

Golf

Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course (180 Lake Parkway, Stateline, NV)
One of Golf Digest’s top public courses and the host of the American Century Championship. Guests can book tee times in May.

Scenic Drives and Views

Emerald Bay Road (HWY 89) – A breathtaking drive around the lake. Allow 2–3 hours with plenty of photo stops.

Heavenly Gondola – Ride up from Heavenly Village for stunning lake views (and a photo-worthy pit stop at the mid-station observation deck).

Heavenly Village

Located at the base of the gondola, Heavenly Village has over 40 shops, 10 restaurants, a movie theater, mini-golf/ice skating (seasonal), and live entertainment. It’s a great place to wander with a coffee or a glass of wine.
